Reader: What is his
reason for women not to learn? We see girls schools who teach Gemara; and
if not, they teach at least Chumash and Navi.
How do women become the best they can be if they do not
learn? Do they just accept what they are told? Seems like blind faith in religion,
and blind faith in just everything else.
Mesora: Women must learn; how else can they perform a
command, if they are ignorant of it? And regarding what they are not commanded,
and learning the philosophy of Torah, the truth is that they are not commanded,
but this does not mean they "cannot" learn. As a Rabbi taught, women
are obligated in human perfection, equal to a man's obligation. So they must
engage in the study of what perfection requires.
